Sexy Downloads – Romance Optional

couple-in-bedroom11

Sex, drugs, rock and roll – the hallowed trinity most associated with youth, excess and debauchery.

Sex and music have a long history together – when combined they often take bedroom exploits to a higher level. Sex is a universal subject matter that we can all relate to – so it turns up in virtually all musical genres. Some artists admit that sex is pretty much always their focus (not that we can’t already tell by the music they produce). While sex is fantastic with the right consensual partner at the right moment in time – regardless of the soundtrack – adding music can undeniably amplify the experience. A great soundtrack can leave a lasting impression to accompany those little “aftershocks” we experience while daydreaming of our most recent sexual encounters. Romance is so often linked to playlists containing “sexy mood music” – but if you are already past the romancing stage with your partner and are really just looking to get down to business – these songs are for you.

Excluding music intended for club play such as EDM, hip-hop, reggae, dancehall etc. – here is a list of high-energy recommended songs that either lyrically make a direct reference to sexy time – or simply invoke the need to grab a body and get busy!

NIN – Closer

Trent Reznor may not have intended for this song to become a quintessential anthem for sex – but it happened, and now that we’ve had some time to distance ourselves from hearing this track too often, it’s a great time to toss it back on to a playlist for your playtime.

Coleman Hell – Fortress

“Let me in your fortress” – the hook really says it all.

Depeche Mode – I Feel You

Dave Gahan is the embodiment of all things sexy – both he and bandmate Martin Gore readily admit that Depeche Mode writes about sex more than any other topic – so really, any DM album should be good for a passionate evening.

Lana Del Rey – National Anthem

Lana is also no stranger to sexy music – but this track is tailor-made for a steamy interlude.

Tricky – Overcome

The entire album Maxinquae is good listening if you’re staying in bed for a few hours – Overcome equates hot sex with syncopated beats – if any track on this list catches your attention it should be this one!

The Pixies – Cactus

When Frank Black sings “take off your dress and send it to me” is it really possible to stay clothed?

Boss Hog – I Dig You

A quirky song, but sexy nonetheless – still not really sure what “barbequed lips” are…

Portishead – Glory Box

Perhaps as obvious of a choice as Closer is – there is something hypnotic and sexy about this track.

Louis XIV – Finding Out True Love Is Blind

A great beat and lyrics that you can easily repeat back to your lover – in context.

Prick – Animal

An odd little sexy one hitter from the 1990’s.

Blitzkid – She Dominates

BDSM aficionado or not – this song about a guy who likes a little pleasure with his pain fits nicely into any sexy alternative music playlist.

Honorable mentions:

–          Rammstein (most of us don’t speak German but the band’s aggressive sound is sexy).

–          Roxy Music – Love Is The Drug

–          Buck Cherry – Crazy Bitch

–          The Trucks – Shattered

–          KMFDM – A Drug Against War

–          Jace Everett – Bad Things (the theme song to HBO’s True Blood)

–          Chis Isaac – Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing

–          The Stooges – I Wanna Be Your Dog

–          Blondie – Atomic
