Fall Fashion: Nail It

scarf

Stepping out into the brisk fall weather for a trip to the local market, adjusting the scarf at my neck – I pause for a moment to admire my flawless manicure. Autumn colours surround me in the rich hues of falling leaves, the harvest and an abundance of excellent fall fashion. My nail colour is absolutely perfect for fall – a deeply resplendent eggplant shade at my fingertips. Purple is one of the staple shades for Fall, nestled among other greats like dark green, deep orange and red.

Selecting the right colour for the season is a snap if you choose from nature’s inspirational palette. While nail art and effects remain popular – this season I am resisting the urge to over-engineer my nails and opting for a cleaner look. I believe Fall is a good season to accessorize – so let your accessories speak volumes – and tone down the manicure. Choose a solid opaque shade with limited/no art or special effect – varying lustre is good – opt for a high gloss shine, a polish that sparkles like a gemstone, or a matte effect (any polish can be converted if you use a matte top coat) to try different looks without too much flash.

Here are my top Essie and OPI picks to nail your next Fall manicure:
