I wasn’t looking for something like this when I went shopping today – but when I saw a bottle of an OPI top coat I had never tried before – I decided to pick one up!
Sheer Tints is labelled as a top coat, but it can be worn alone or on top of another polish – to test it out I tried it as a top coat over a light Essie polish I am almost ready to pitch out (almost empty).
“Don’t Violet Me Down” is one of 4 shades that OPI released last spring. I was only able to find 1 of four today, but you can find a great review of all 4 Sheer Tints and check out the other 3 shades – Be Magentale With Me; I’m Never Amberassed; and I Can Teal You Love Me – here on the awesome nail blog “All lacquered up“(great blog by the way – recommended for nail buffs).
Overall the top coat is somewhat of a challenge to use because of its viscosity. However, the product can transform an ordinary polish into something new – which makes it a great way to dress up an old colour you may be tired of.
Interesting nail art can definitely be achieved with the tints – there are countless unique and creative examples online.
Would I buy again? As a novelty, absolutely – this product is fun – but definitely not a beauty essential.
