While watching the American Horror Story: Hotel premiere last week, I was literally compelled to write – I had to interrupt my viewing to pause the episode and jot down points I would later cover and I opened my word processor while the episode was still playing.
In my review on http://www.thegeeko.com I discuss how my declining interest in the past 3 seasons – this is true – I zealously binge-watched season 1, eagerly waited for season 2 – and after a few episodes forgot about the show for a few months. When I returned to season 2, I binge-watched the rest of the episodes and managed to get through it – but I wasn’t really that excited about it – it was ok… maybe I was bored after losing Dylan McDermott…
Season 3 started out a little better – I discovered a renewed passion for Stevie Nicks and couldn’t stop playing Edge of 17 for a few weeks – but eventually I fell off the wagon and did not return to see how the season ended.
Season 4… I don’t like clowns… let me just say I don’t really like the clown horror trope – Pennywise is it for me (no pun intended) – the creepy Gacy-esque clown in Freak Show was really not my thing… but I tried a few episodes regardless and ultimately wasn’t able to really get into it to finish the season.
And now we come to season 5 – and thank the television gods that this is an anthology series – because this new story IS my thing…
